Micah's Sisters and Brother

This is Meagan, Micah's eldest sister. She is 23 years old and lives in Louisville, Kentucky. She is currently studying Graphic Art and Design and works for her aunt's promotional company. She will graduate next year. She will be more than enthusiastic about helping you with all of your promotional needs, visit her at http://www.doubledogdare.us/ . This picture was taken on our family vacation to the Florida Keys.

This is Micah's sister Sarah. She is 20 years old and lives in St. Augustine, Florida, which is approximately 38 miles south of Jacksonville. This is her making her first Thanksgiving dinner, while Albert and me were in Guatemala. In St. Augustine, she attends college and is studying to be an English teacher. Sarah is a gifted writer and loves to play her djimba drum. She and her friends play music on St. George Street, where they all work at local restaurants.

This is Sean, Micah's big brother. He is 17 and will graduate from High School in May. This is him at the Magnolia Festival this past October, days before we visited Micah for the first time. The Mag Fest is a four day music festival that takes place upon the banks of the Suwanee River in Live Oak, Florida.

Our Little Prince

Greetings Loved Ones of Micah! This Thursday, Albert and I head back down to Central America to visit our little prince. He will be 7 months old on the 22 of January, we feel extremely blessed to have been able to watch his development by visiting him each month. We first met Micah at 4 months old, and each month when we visit, it is so exciting to witness the new discoveries he has made. During this visit, there will also be various other families from our agency, Tree of Life. Also, our coordinator, Kay Montes, will be there. Kay will be supporting us by proactively working with our Guatemalan coordinator, Cindy Flores. These ladies are very passionate about bringing Micah home, and his Guatemalan friends, to their families in the US. Albert and I are anticipating big developments when we go down.

As we await Micah's arrival, Albert, Sean, and I get his room ready with Winnie-the-Pooh decor. Sean anticipates all the fun he is going to have with his baby brother. For 17 years Sean has been the youngest of three. His two older sisters, Meagan and Sarah, have always adored, cuddled, and even ganged up on him on occasion (isn't that what big sisters do?). But Sean has always taken it in stride with a genuine good nature. Sean will graduate from Bishop Kenny High School in May. He is truly a wonderful young man who works hard, earns good grades, and has a huge heart. He is sincere, gentle, and a magnet to babies. They seem to love him! Just ask David, Avery, Gavin, and Anna. Sean will be a great big brother.

We pray that everyone is in good health and is blessed with a supportive, loving family. Albert and I look forward to giving you many updates upon our return. Love and Prayers to All, Robin

Micah at 6 Months

Go Jags! Micah is a huge Jags fan (as if he had a choice).
Like father like son. Micah loves it when Albert plays his guitar and sings. If he is fussy, it immediately settles him down.

Santa brought Micah a Winnie-the-Pooh and he loves him! They are best buddies. Micah gets so excited whenever he sees Pooh. Pooh bear is always wet from Micah kissing and talking to him.

Our first time feeding Micah cereal. What a mess! I was definately out of practice. When he was finished eating, cereal was everywhere! All over his face, hands, hair, and feet!! I forgot about all the extra hands you need when feeding a baby, to hold their hands down!

Happy New Year!

Greetings Beloved Friends and Family! This is the very first blog edition I have created for updates and information on Micah's adoption. As most of you already know, Albert and I are adopting a beautiful baby boy from Guatemala. Micah was born on June 22, 2007, and has just turned 6 months old. We first met Micah on October 31 and an immediate bond of unconditional love was formed. He smiled at us and he had us in the palm of his little hands. Since that first visit in late October, we have been back to visit Micah two more times; during Thanksgiving and the day after Christmas. Our next visit will be January 17 - 21.

During our last visit we learned some wonderful news, our adoption has entered the final stages! Our case is now in PGN (Procuradoria General de la Nacion). PGN is the equivalent of the U.S. Attorney General. During this process our specific case will be reviewed by 2 reviewers. If any reviewer has a question about any of the documents that have been submitted, they will request more information from our attorney. These delays can set our adoption back at least three weeks. After our paperwork has been reviewed by reviewers 1 and 2, it then goes to the Attorney General himself who will then review our case. He may have questions himself, and/or then sign off on our documents. Then baby Micah is ours! A birth certificate will then be issued with Albert and my names and baby Micah will then have the Sarkees surname forever. This step averages at about 8 weeks.

The last step is that of the US Embassy. The US Embassy will request a second DNA to be performed (to make sure we have the same baby we started with since the beginning of our adoption). A passport and visa is then issued for baby Micah Sarkees so he may leave the country. We will then be assigned an appointment at the Embassy where we will swear to the validity of all the documents we presented. At that time we will receive a complete history on Micah's birth mother and if he has biological siblings. We will then receive a sealed envelope which we are to present to the customs officer in the US. We are then headed home to our beautiful house in Jacksonville, Florida.

I have recently completed my Master's Degree, ESOL endorsement, and the Teacher of the Year requirements, I am now free to devote my time to updating Micah's blog.

Albert and I are very appreciative for everyone's love, excitement, and anticipation on meeting our precious little boy. We are so blessed to have him!!

Blessings and Love to All, Robin
